Canada

My home and native land. From sea to glorious sea, Canada always sets me at ease and make my heart swell. It’s the second-largest country in the world. It’s got more coastline than anywhere else. From desert to alpine rainforest and Arctic tundra, Canada has got it all. Surfing, skiing, boarding, fishing, climbing, diving, cycling, we’re the original adventurer’s paradise. We’ve got seafood enviable the world over. Our rich agricultural heritage and passionate for old-world farming and harvesting make Canada ideal for eating, drinking, and merry-making. Me, I was born in Vancouver, lived in the Yukon, and have driven across half the country. I’m the West Coast daughter of Maritimers, with extensive family in Ontario. So, there ain’t much I haven’t seen a bit of. But, hey, there’s more country here than I’ll ever be able to see. So, for four months a year, I’ll be back, exploring my homeland, communing with my people, and getting in touch with that elusive Canadian culture. What is Canadian culture, anyhow? Well, it seems to be all about the people who’ve moved here from around the world. We’re a nation of people who’ve come to form a new nation. As one of the world’s youngest countries, when it comes to Canada, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Nova Scotia: Part One — Halifax

Nova Scotia and Halifax are different, because, normally, I don’t do “travel round-ups.” Most of the time, my opinion is that you should find out what to see and do by people [...]

Istria & the Magic of Motovun

I began writing about Motovun and Istria two months ago. I kept coming back to this, picking at it, or reading it and trying to find the right mood so I could wrangle the right words. Never have [...]
